Dewy skin is a marketing aesthetic, not a measure of skin health. The wet-looking glow comes from facial oils, dewy primers, and lighting — not from healthier skin underneath.
What dewy products actually do
Layer a finishing oil or hyaluronic-acid mist over your moisturiser. The light bounces off the wetness, producing the effect. Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow and Glossier Futuredew use silicone-derived sheen — they're cosmetic, not treatment.
When dewy doesn't suit you
Oily or acne-prone skin: dewy products magnify shine, often look slick rather than glowing. Mature skin: dewy formulas settle into lines, exaggerating texture. Matte finishes flatter most skin types over 40.
Skin that looks healthy on camera doesn't have to look wet. Even skin tone, smooth texture, and balanced oil production matter more than the surface shine.
